Calling All Artists: Poets Emcees Rappers Singers Comedians and More!

Since 2006 we've been igniting the stage keeping the mic lit and celebrating the power of expression. We are back at the iconic Sankofa Bookstore & Cafe in Washington DC. This edition we’re shining a spotlight on the topic 'Peace! ...or at least we need some' in 2024 and what that may mean through your eyes.
This Saturday we feature Poet, lyricist and Songwritter Holly Mara Goreman. She is currently in the process of recording her first album in Istanbul, Turkey. Holly has performed her poetry/music at cafes all over D.C., most notably at Busboys and Poets, Sankofa Bookstore, and various open mic nights. Holly’s intention is to stand as a compelling voice in the arts, driven by a desire to innovate and inspire; with wounds to explore and words to heal.

So come out and step up to the mic to share your truth. Whether it’s a poem a freestyle rap a heartfelt monologue or however you choose to share this is your moment to shine.
