Un gigantesque château médiéval avec une vue à 360° sur Avignon et la Provence
Le Fort Saint-André est classé monument historique depuis 1903, et vous ne pouvez pas le manquer. Littéralement ! Ce majestueux fort médiéval domine le Rhône du haut de l'éperon rocheux du mont Andaon. Commandé par le roi de France Philippe le Bel pour afficher sa puissance, le Fort Saint-André est un témoignage exceptionnel à la fois de ses poches profondes et de l'architecture militaire du 14ème siècle.
Autrefois symbole du pouvoir royal, le fort abritait une garnison permanente, une cour de justice et une prison. Vous pouvez encore voir les graffitis des prisonniers qui y ont été enfermés aux 18e et 19e siècles ! Explorez les pièces et les bâtiments entièrement intacts, entrez dans la chapelle et empruntez le chemin de ronde pour admirer des vues époustouflantes sur le Palais des Papes, le pont d'Avignon, la tour Philippe Le Bel, le Mont Ventoux, les Alpilles, le Luberon et bien d'autres choses encore.

Fort Saint-André has been listed as a historic monument since 1903, and you can't miss it. Literally! This majestic medieval fort looms large over the Rhône from atop the rocky outcrop of Mount Andaon. Commissioned by the French King Philippe le Bel to display his power, Fort Saint-André is an exceptional testimony to both his deep pockets and the military architecture of the 14th century.
Once a symbol of royal power, the fort had a permanent garrison, a court of justice and a prison. You can still see the graffiti from the prisoners who were locked up here in the 18th and 19th centuries! Explore the fully intact rooms and buildings, step into the chapel, and take the parapet walk for mind-blowing views of the Pope's Palace, the bridge of Avignon, the Philippe Le Bel Tower, Mont Ventoux, the Alpilles, the Luberon, and more.
